superfruit!!! ~ avocado
I love avocados. I was first introduced to guacamole when I was younger; no thank you. When I got older, after I had my son, I went on a nutrition kick and it stuck.
When I first started eating avocados, instead of eating chunks, I would spread it. I'm a texture girl, and it's an acquired taste, but since I love what's good for me, I could do it if it was spread. I would substitute avocados for mayo on my sandwiches & wraps and put small slivers in my salads.
About a year and a half later, I went to visit one of my best friends. We went to a Mexican restaurant (guacamole), and I've been hooked ever since. I use them on my salads, and eat them with just about everything.
Avocado has a major dose of healthy fat, so don't be afraid to indulge, especially if you don't eat meat frequently. Avocados being fattening is a myth. Our bodies need a certain amount of fats and avocados are a healthy, natural, plant based source.
Whether in guacamole, plain with some salt, pepper and lemon, or as part of a salad or other dish, avocados are nutritious and delicious! Eat up.
