The cops arresting young student trend is really getting outta hand. Minors should not be handcuffed, arrested, transferred to a precinct and interrogated, with no parental escort. Especially NOT over $5 punk @ss dollars.

The family of the young man is now suing the NYPD.

According to reports, the young man, Wilson Reyes, got into a fight with another student after Reyes picked up $5 that was dropped on the ground in front of him. According to the lawsuit, the NYPD, responding to a complaint of assault and robbery, took the boy to the local precinct, where they allegedly held and interrogated him for ten hours.

Wilson's mother, Frances Mendez, gave this statement to the NY Post:

“Imagine how I felt seeing my son in handcuffs“It was horrible. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”

NYC Public Advocate Bill de Blasio had this to say about the incident on the NYC Public Advocate's Website:

“Seven-year-olds don’t belong in handcuffs,” he said. “As a parent, I wouldn’t stand for this in one of my kids’ schools. Our school system’s over-reliance on the NYPD as a disciplinary tool traumatizes our young people, sows distrust in our communities and drains vital city resources away from responding to genuine crimes. This has to stop.”

The NYPD claims the lawyers claims are grossly exaggerated. The robbery charges were dropped and the NYPD is investigating the incident.

What's y'all take on the incident? Justified or excessive force?
